IT'S JUST A THOUGHT

William Shakespeare (1564 - 1616), poet and playwright

"All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players. They have their exits and entrances; and one man in his time plays many parts, his acts being seven ages."

"Be not afraid of greatness: some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them."

"This above all: to thine own self be true. And it must follow, as the night the day, thou canst not then be false to any man."

"To be or not to be. That is the question."

"The lady doth protest too much, methinks."

"The empty vessel makes the loudest sound."

"If music be the food of love, play on."

"I dote on his very absence."

"Parting is such sweet sorrow."

"The course of true love never did run smooth."

"Maids want nothing but husbands, and when they have them, they want everything."

"There's many a man has more hair than wit."

"The devil can cite Scripture for his purpose."

"With mirth and laughter let old wrinkles come."

DRAMA ASSOCIATION OF WALES

DAW reports in its Spring/Summer 2011 issue, “DAW have experienced a turbulent time over the past few months following the shock announcement that the Arts Council of Wales have withdrawn their revenue funding that has been supporting the organisation for many years. The Arts Council carried out an Investment Review of all their revenue funding organisations in the spring of 2010. Of 116 organisations applying for funding only 71 were successful, leaving 45 organisations across Wales with a very uncertain future.”

As a result DAW has had to terminate funding for the posts of Director and North Wales Drama Development Officer, who was based at Theatr Colwyn, and will be limiting its future services to:
o The Library
o Publications
o Training

Signs of the times, my friends.... and sad that we in North Wales have lost the involvement of the Drama Development Officer – a post filled by Lucy, then Dewi, then another Dewi, and finally Ceri Phillips.
