IT'S JUST A THOUGHT

William Shakespeare (1564 - 1616), poet and playwright

"All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players. They have their exits and entrances; and one man in his time plays many parts, his acts being seven ages."

"Be not afraid of greatness: some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them."

"This above all: to thine own self be true. And it must follow, as the night the day, thou canst not then be false to any man."

"To be or not to be. That is the question."

"The lady doth protest too much, methinks."

"The empty vessel makes the loudest sound."

"If music be the food of love, play on."

"I dote on his very absence."

"Parting is such sweet sorrow."

"The course of true love never did run smooth."

"Maids want nothing but husbands, and when they have them, they want everything."

"There's many a man has more hair than wit."

"The devil can cite Scripture for his purpose."

"With mirth and laughter let old wrinkles come."

2) North Wales Characterisation One Day Workshop:
Bringing the Character Out of the Script
– Saturday 18 September

The Drama Association of Wales and Venue Cymru are holding a characterisation workshop in Venue Cymru, Llandudno. The tutor will be Ian Rowlands.

Ian Rowlands is a talented playwright, director and actor. As former Artistic Director for Bara Caws, Theatr Gwynedd Company and North Wales Stage, Ian has a great knowledge of theatrical needs within North Wales. Ian is currently a guest lecturer in the Arts Department at Trinity College, Carmarthen.

Ian’s main passion is writing, and was rewarded for his work by the Arts Council of Wales in 2008. Some of his more recent plays are Mor Tawel, Blue Heron in the Womb, Butterfly, Blink. Blink has been performed in the Torch Theatre Milford Haven, Chapter Arts Centre Cardiff and was then staged in New York in 2008.

The course will discuss ways of developing a character and bringing it out of the script; as he’s such a successful playwright he’ll use his knowledge and expertise to help take characters out of the script and on to the stage.

The workshop will be held between 10am and 4pm on Saturday 18th of September, there is only a limited space for 20, so please, if you’re interested contact DAW’s North Wales Development and Welsh Language Officer, as soon as possible to book your space. Due to limited spaces payments MUST be made on day of booking! Course fees are: £15 for non-members and £10 for individual members of the Drama Association of Wales. To book your space, please contact Ceri Phillips our North Wales Development Officer.
